Financial Cents is practice-management software for small accounting and bookkeeping firms. Its AI takes on the most repetitive part of intake: checking, naming and filing what clients upload1.

Best for: Small firms that want document chasing and file handling automated at a low published price.

Not the right fit for: Larger firms that need AI to act on client work beyond documents and email drafts.

What Financial Cents does for accounting firms

The core product covers workflows and recurring work, client requests, a client CRM and portal, time and billing, proposals and engagement letters, e-signatures and reporting12. Its AI agents work on client uploads: an AI File Validator checks that each upload is the right file, AI File Renaming names it to the firm's convention, and an AI File Routing agent files a copy in the right client folder, automatically or after a quick approval. AI also drafts client emails and generates workflow checklists1.

The Scale plan adds automatic follow-ups on client tasks, customized client task emails, a shared inbox and integrations including Zapier and tax software2.

Financial Cents also publishes an annual survey of AI use in accounting firms. Its 2026 edition, based on 486 North American respondents, is one of the more useful sources on how firms actually use AI3, and we cite it throughout this site.

Published evidence

The pricing page states that firms save 56 hours a month and $19,200 a year on average with Financial Cents2. That is the vendor's own figure, without a published method.

Strengths and limits

Strengths

  • Aims AI at the most repetitive intake job: checking, naming and filing client uploads.
  • Automatic follow-ups on client tasks on the Scale plan.
  • Low published prices, including a $19 plan for solo firms.
  • Publishes an annual survey of AI use in accounting firms.

Limits

  • AI features are narrow: documents, email drafts and checklists.
  • All plans are 12-month agreements.
  • Data-handling terms for AI were not stated on the pages we read.

Choose another option if: You want AI to handle client conversations, phones or the books, not only the files clients send.

Pricing

Published: Solo $19 a month, Team $49 and Scale $69 per user a month, billed annually.

Questions to ask Financial Cents

  • Which AI features are on which plan?
  • How does the AI handle files clients send by email rather than through the portal?
  • Where is client data processed when AI features run?
  • What is the cost of leaving a 12-month agreement early?
